The Weather Channel is the best Droid X app for staying up to date on local weather and radar data. It is a fully-featured app with an excellent widget to go with it. The app automatically discovers your location without any user intervention and presents a whole gamut of information ranging from 5-day forecasts to real-time precipitation radar. It also pulls in video reports relevant to your location. It integrates well with Android notification and these are customizable.

The widget and the app itself are very well-designed, presenting plenty of data in an uncluttered manner and letting you take in the most relevant pieces simply by scanning the app. Recent updates to the app have taken care of the tendency for the earlier versions to drain the battery quite heavily. Keep in mind though, that the accuracy of the reports are only as good as the source. So if you find that the Weather Channel isn’t quite accurate as other sources (say, Weather Underground) in your home town, you may want to play around with other apps to find more accurate ones. Having said that, this Droid X app is as good as it gets in terms of accuracy and features for the majority of Android users.
