doubleTwist for Android and the Droid X is a powerful and beautifully-designed media player app. It acts as a complete replacement for the default Android music player. It also handles video beautifully. This doubleTwist app along with its Desktop counterpart (for both Mac and Windows) lets you manage all your media-related tasks. You can import your iTunes playlists, play counts, and ratings and keep your Droid X and Desktop computer in complete sync all the time. It also does podcast syncing.

The interface is easily one of the best on Android at the moment. It fits perfectly with the general Android interface but still manages to stand out in its attention to detail and painstaking effort at beautiful iconography. Unfortunately it is missing a widget at the time of writing, though it is planned to receive one in a future update. Upcoming features also include automatic downloads of album art if your music database doesn’t already carry it for a particular song. The existing features are very polished and doubleTwist Player for the Droid X is an excellent overall media player that meets most of your media needs in a polished and easy-to-use manner.
